Dahlberg Radio ~ 1940’s Coin Operated Radio Tokens Used in Hospitals, Bus terminals, etc. These tokens fit the Dahlberg Coin Radio. They are the size of a dime. The Hospitals were equipped with coin operated room radios with pillow speakers. 10¢ (or a token) got you 1 hour of listening time. There were vending machines in the waiting room that would vend 3 tokens for a quarter. Many visitors would purchase the tokens and leave them with their friends who were hospitalized. These tokens are zinc, and have minor surface oxidation as seen in the photo. A pencil eraser or buffer will shine them up. If you have a coin-op radio, you need these tokens. This lot includes 3 tokens. They are over 75 years old and some of the detail and plating is slightly worn as seen in the photo. |
