Drive-In Car Hop & Soda JerkDairy Dipper Paper Hat ~ 1963This hat was supplied to Mom & Pop Drive Ins & Soda Fountains that served South Iowa Brand Ice Cream and Dairy products. It was worn by the soda jerks and the car hops. A soda jerk is the guy that mixed the malts, made the soda's, scooped the ice cream etc. A car hop was the girl that would run out to your car and take your order and bring your food while you stayed with your car. They wore these little paper hats.
