Frostie Root Beer

Introducing Frostie Root Beer 6 Bottles for 49¢

This large poster was when they introduced Frostie Root Beer! It’s 21 inches wide and 24 ½ inches tall (That’s a 1 foot ruler at the bottom of the photo). It offers a special deal of 6 King Size bottles for 49¢. The graphics feature “Herkimer”, a mountain man who looks like Santa Claus with snow and ice in his hair and beard. 4 color graphics. Printed on thick poster paper. Used to tape in the store front window or on a store wall.

Slight musty smell. We found a few dozen between two large cardboard pieces on a back shelf of an old print shop slated for demolition. Slight ¼ inch “ripple” along the edge, and a minor crumple here and there seen in photo. They are so small that they are insignificant, and would frame out perfectly.

We did some research and found out that Frostie was first made in 1939 in an abandoned jailhouse in Catonsville, Maryland. We assume that because the poster says “Introducing”, that it is from that era. However it could be a few years later when they introduced it in another part of the country. It is not dated, but the price of 6 King Size Bottles for 49¢ definitely makes it pre WW II.

We ship it rolled up in a waterproof poly sleeve and in a cardboard mailing tube.
