1943 Gambling Game

Payout Card

5¢ Play Bingo Ticket Jar

This glossy finished, 4 ½ by 8 inch, thick cardboard card was part of the Bingo Ticket Jar gambling game similar to punchboards or punch boards. Dated 1943, it was prominent in Barber Shops, Pool Halls, Corner Grocers, Ma & Pa stores, gas stations, any place someone would spend a nickel. Sort of like the state lotteries are today!

This Pay Out sign would be posted near a jar or fish bowl full of folded paper tickets with numbers on them. For 5¢, a player could reach in the jar and pull out a sealed ticket. He would open it up and compare the number on it with the winner’s numbers on this card. There are 24 numbers that would pay 50¢, 48 numbers paid 25¢ and there were 16 combinations to win the Bingo that paid $1.00.

The operators name is at the top, ”Dangling Ducket’s” was the mobsters street name, and the games popular name was Jar-‘O-Do (Jar of Dough). Typical insignificant age patina and handling rubs, otherwise Perfect Condition. Looks great when framed on the wall with your collection.
