Western Practical Joke Novelty

Rattlesnake Eggs

Scares the Heck Out of People

This practical joke has been around for a century. A favorite out west when “Eastern Folks” would arrive. A school yards favorite in the early 1900’s. This is an envelope that has interesting western desert graphics scene on it with a cactus, the sun going down and a rattlesnake curled up. There is a picture of a rattlesnake’s head with his mouth open and fangs exposed. It says Rattlesnake Eggs on the envelope and at the bottom is says, Caution: Keep in cool place to prevent hatching.

You can just leave it sitting on a coffee table or somewhere. Someone’s curiosity will get to them sooner or later. The end flap says Caution when opening. Eventually someone will open the flap and take a peek. Then all heck breaks loose. A loud rattling and shaking happens when someone opens up the envelope. You will usually get a shriek out of them. The envelope contains a thin wind up mechanism that goes off when the envelope is opened, making them think a rattlesnake is going to jump out! It gets them every time. If you are a Western Collector enthusiast, this one belongs on your table.
