Human Locomotion Flipbook

Topless Lady Jumping Rope

Animated Action ~ 30 Page Flip Book

This flipbook was first published in 1887. It was a study on human locomotion done by Professor Eadweard Muybridge. Flipbooks were used for physics and other sciences because the movie projector had not been invented until the 1890’s. Frame by frame studies of motion were conducted with flipbooks. They were a valuable tool to the scientific community. This flip book was one of several by Professor Muybridge studying how the human body progressed through repetitive tasks.

This flipbook is 4 ¼ inches by almost 2 inches. It features a topless, well endowed lady skipping rope. This was a textbook of sorts when first published in 1887, but now is a favorite example of a flipbook. It is not old.
