Wind Up Tin Toy 5¢ Rocket Ride Carnival Carousel Tin Litho Exceptional Tin Action Toy! This colorful tin lithographed ride stands 8 inches tall and 5 inches in diameter when standing still and grows to over 12 inches in diameter when running. It features a tall center tower topped with an umbrella style carousel spinning crown. It has 4 rocket ships suspended with wires from the edge of the crown. It uses a sophisticated lever wind up clockwork motor. You slide the lever at the bottom and let it go. The mechanism starts spinning, slowly at first. As it picks up speed the rocket ships start to rise up and out. Each rocket has a propeller that spins, adding to the exciting action. Distinctive details. Look at the smiles on the faces on the rocket riders. It runs about a half minute with one lever push wind. I wish my camera was a high speed model so you could see the rockets spinning up and out with their propellers spinning while it is running. The photo at the bottom of the page is when it is standing still.
