Hopalong Cassidy ~ 1950’s Butter-Nut Bread Wrapper

“Hoppy’s Favorite” Bread

Wrapped Around a Foam Block the Size and Shape of a Loaf of Bread

This is an early 1950’s bread, baked by Old Homestead Bakery ~ San Francisco, Oakland, CAL. We found the tail end of a roll of the old waxed paper bread wrappers they used. We had soft foam blocks made the size of the loaf, and wrapped it up. Displays just like a loaf of bread. It is 8 ½ inches long and 4 inches square. Fantastic graphics of Hoppy (William Boyd).

Here is a close up photo

William Boyd really took advantage of playing Hoppy on TV from 1952 to 1954. He knew how to market using his image with the words on either side saying, Hoppy’s Favorite. He licensed this image to Bakeries, Milk companies, Ice Cream, and a whole lot of other foods and toys. This Butter-Nut Bread loaf has in small letters under his image that says “Hoppy’s Favorite”, © Wm. Boyd. The ends of the loaf have the Butter-Nut “Star” logo.
