Cork and String Style

Pop Gun

1960's Dime Store Package

Versions of this classic toy have been around for over 100 years. This is an early 1960's version. A pop gun is a pistol that has a cylinder and plunger in the barrel. You pull back on the spring loaded plunger to cock it. You plug the barrel end with a cork, and pull the trigger, releasing the plunger. The compressed air in the barrel caused by the plunger moving forward shoots the cork out of the end of the gun with a loud POP! The cork is attached to a string for two reasons. So you won't loose your cork and so you won't hit someone with it.

This unique pop gun is from the early 1960's. It was one of the last styles of pop guns ever made due to toy safety standards being implemented. It is plastic and uses a plastic cork tethered to the gun. It is still in the unopened, attractive dime store package with distinctive graphics of a young boy with his blue jeans cuffed up, firing his cork pistol. Both sides are printed the same. There is a circle with a ¢ in it for the merchant to mark the price, usually a dime. This package has a small 15¢ sticker on one side in the circle. Works great! Perfect Condition.
