1960's Japan Import Toy


This exceptionally striking tin lithographed toy cable car is a little over 3 ½ inches long. Friction Drive, flywheel motor mechanism. The features are 3 dimensionally stamped. It looks exactly like one of the San Francisco Cable Cars. Distinctive appearance with even the smallest of details in multi-color splendor. The top says Powell & Mason Sts. Numbered 514, each end has a conductor, and it says, Bay and Market and Powell and Mason.

The raised roof vents, the wood slat side benches and the traditional grab rails and scissor gate are well illustrated. Intricate attention to miniature elements add a touch of realism. You can even see the expressions on the riders faces. Not only does this extraordinary Cable Car have a distinguished look, but it has the typical 1950's Japan style, working friction flywheel motorized Drive!

This is one of the finest 60's tin litho Japan imports I have ever offered. This item is typical of stuff in the large Dime Store merchandise finds we made. Unsold, original merchandise.
