Tin Lithographed Western Graphics

Cowboy and Indian Toy Telescope

1950's Japan Import Still on Store Card ~ Works!

This relic of the 1950's is remarkably stunning. It is an actual working telescope 4 ½ inches long. The Cowboy and Indian graphics are an exceptional example of Japan post war imports. The telescope barrel portrays an illustration of a cowboy peering through the telescope in the western mountain terrain. Exceptional quality tin lithograph. No plastic anywhere. It adjusts in and out to focus on an object. My guess is it is X2 magnification. Glass lenses on each end.

It is mounted with two fine wires to an equally impressive display card. Phenomenal color illustration on a 3 by 6 inch stiff cardboard. It is bordered with a twisted hemp rope, and contains two distinct images. The Cowboy is in the mountains, sitting on a rearing horse telescope to his eye, observing the Indian Chief, who is standing in a characteristic pose with a spear in one hand, a hatchet in the other, in a colorful feather headdress and facepaint, in front of a small log cabin.

This is the finest postwar lithography toy I have ever offered. Hasn't seen daylight for decades. Found in the original sealed boxes. No scratches, no dings, no fading. Perfect Condition. This item is typical of stuff in the large Dime Store merchandise finds we made. We pack it securely and send it First Class U.S. Postal.
