Old Wood Spinning Top1950's Classic Toy with String and Still in the PackageNo plastic here! The spinning wood top is a classic toy that was popular from the 1800's through the mid 1950's when plastic toys took over. This wood top has the typical characteristic inverted tear-drop shape. It's 3 inches high, has a metal point, and comes with the original string. Unused and still in the package. Toys like this were fun. Kids used to have contests to see who could keep theirs spinning the longest. Once the fancy plastic toys started coming out, classics like these died out never to be made again. We found a few unopened boxes of them that were stored for decades on a back shelf at a dime store distributors. They come in green, blue and red, with the original string cord. No scratches or dings, unused and in Perfect Condition. The photo below shows the dime store display box they came in, along with one top of each color. This item is typical of stuff in the large Dime Store merchandise finds we made. We pack it securely and send it First Class U.S. Postal. Notice :This item is a genuine vintage toy from an era when there were no safety standards. It probably contains, or is, a choking hazard, and probably includes other features that are not suitable for children to play with. It is not being sold as a toy for a child to play with, but as a genuine vintage collectable item for adults. |
