The John Deere #140 is recognized for its classic design, rugged construction and dependability. The garden tractor J. D. #140 was introduced in 1968 and was powered by a 12 hp Kohler engine. In 1969 to 1974 the #140 used a 14 hp Kohler engine and a Sundstrand Hydostatic transmission. The #140 garden tractor also had hydraulic outlets for operating attachments.
