These impressive old label bands have exceptional graphics. Popular Cut Plug is purple, purportedly at the request of Detroit's Purple Gang. The Dan Patch has a distinctive picture with a Trotter Horse. Striking 3 color offset printing. Both are packaged by Scotten Dillon Co. Detroit, Mich.

These genuine Tobacco band labels fit the pocket size tobacco plugs. A tobacco plug was a small, loosely compressed puck of tobacco that was the common pocket size to buy. Depending on the cut it would be for smoking or chewing or both. Covered in foil, then wrapped with this paper band label, It sold for a nickel.
