This little gadget should be in every vintage sewing basket. Called the Middy's Scissor Sharpener, it is a metal device that makes it easy to sharpen scissors evenly. Made by Middy Associates, Oshkosh, Wisconsin in the 1950's and sold in dime stores and sewing notion stores throughout the country.
