Cardboard Cigarette Box

Negro in Top Hat

1930's  Tobacco

This vintage cigarette pack is made of stiff cardboard. The front sports a distinguished Negro man in a top hat, a silk scarf around his neck and blouse (shirt) unbuttoned. Called John. He is striking a match and getting ready to light up a Cigarro. Below his image it says, Marca Registrada 26 Aug 1887, Colunas Hermanos. I believe it's origin to be one of the Spanish speaking island nations like Cuba or Jamaica.

Both sides say, 10 Cigarros ~ Superiores - Hojas De La Habana ~ Colunas. The back lists a series of world Expositions where they won the gold medal for the best cigarettes, the most recent being, Liege Exposition Internationale ~ 1930. The exceptional Negro graphics are phenomenal! Some age patina to the cardboard, but the images are crisp and unfaded.

No tears or nips. 3 ¼ inches by 2 inches, ¾ inch thick. Perfect Condition. Two are shown in the photo so you can see the side. You are buying one. We pack it securely and mail it to you First Class U.S. Postal.
