This exceptional nautical item is over 6 inches long. Made of copper and brass to withstand the seas corrosive water. The copper blow pipe has a turned brass mouthpiece, fancy brass handle and a hollow brass bowl at the end. The pipe bowl has a tuned blowhole on top and anchors stamped into each side. It is attached to a 36 inch brass chain. The Boatswain (pronounced boats-son) is the guy at the top of the plank or gangway. When someone of importance comes aboard the Boatswain blows his Boatswains pipe (don't call it a whistle or sailors get angry) with a 2 pitch signal. Thus the old sailors saying "Piping Him Aboard".

It comes in an exquisite carved wood box, 7 ½ inches long, 1 ¾ inches wide and 1 ½ inches high with the lid snapped on. The curved top lid has a brass inlaid anchor.
