1949 Ford ConvertiblePicture Advertising Ink BlotterThis rare survivor is 6 inches by 3 inches, and has sharp graphics of a '49 Ford Red Convertible with a pretty lady next to it, parked on a beach. Ink Blotters were popular before the 1960's when fountain pens were predominant. Fountain Pen ink would stay wet for several minutes, so a "blotter" was used on signatures, etc. to absorb the excess ink. They are absorbent on one side and the other was used for displaying advertising. Like calendars and business cards, they were a favorite "give-a-way" media for advertisers. Most were used and tossed. Survivors with interesting advertising are scarce. This one is in Perfect Condition. |
